MCSA 5889 – Motor Carrier Records Change

The MCSA-5889 form, also known as the Motor Carrier Records Change Form, is a document used by motor carriers to submit changes or updates to their records with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). This form allows motor carriers to change information such as their company name, address, contact details, or reinstatement of operating authority.

If you don’t file MCSA 5889 form with changes, your motor carrier may be deleted. Plus, not following the rules during the update could lead to daily fines of up to $1,000, with a maximum of $10,000 overall.

FMCSA mandates an MCSA 5889 filing when there is one or more of the following changes to your Operating Authority (MC, MX or FF):

· Changed your business address

· Changed your mailing address

· Changed your company name

· Changed your operating authority

· Ownership Changes

· Any Name Changes

· Reinstatement

Whenever you make changes to your trucking business and operations that has a MC, MX or FF Number, you need to submit an MCSA-5889 form.
